Like the HSE, there should be an ISSE (or ISE)

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is the Irish national healthcare entity that's public-funded. Similar to the NHS in the UK. It's closely integrated with the public administration and is the body responsible for the health and well-being of the nation.

Similar to what HSE is to health, there should be something called The Information Systems Service Executive (ISSE) (or 'Information Service Executive' (ISE), to make it nice and shorter). In a world that practically 'runs on' networked/internet-based information systems, there needs to be significantly more care and thought into the lives of the 'users' of the information systems - the people, the citizens.

The level of Information Systems knowledge in the civil services, legislative and policymaking councils, and the entire government structure itself - needs critical attention. There should be lots more space for public-interest technologists to be part of public administration and policymaking.
